The SSI Divemaster program is your first step into a professional diving career. Build your leadership, dive planning, supervision, and problem-solving skills while gaining real-world experience with an SSI Professional team. Learn how to safely guide certified divers and support instructors during training activities.
What you’ll do
The SSI Divemaster program combines academic learning, in-water training, and practical experience in a professional diving environment. You will develop skills in dive planning, risk management, equipment preparation, diver supervision, and dive leadership. Training includes assisting instructors, guiding certified divers, and managing real-world diving situations under professional supervision. You will gain hands-on experience through supervised dives and dive center operations while developing your communication and leadership skills. After completing all SSI requirements, you can earn your SSI Divemaster certification and begin your career as a professional dive leader.
Before you start
- Minimum age: 18 years old
- SSI Diver Stress & Rescue certification or equivalent
- SSI React Right or equivalent first aid and CPR certification
- Minimum 40 logged dives to begin training
- Complete the required SSI medical and fitness requirements
- Meet all SSI professional training prerequisites
