The SSI Full Face Mask Diving specialty teaches you how to safely dive using a full face mask. Learn how to set up, use, and manage a full face mask while maintaining proper buoyancy and awareness underwater. This specialty is ideal for divers who want a different and comfortable way to experience scuba diving.
What you’ll do
The SSI Full Face Mask Diving program teaches you the skills and knowledge needed to safely use a full face mask while scuba diving. You will learn how to select, inspect, assemble, and correctly fit the equipment before entering the water. Training includes breathing, communication, buoyancy control, and procedures for managing common full face mask situations. You will practice the required skills in confined water and open water under the guidance of an SSI Professional. After completing the required training, you will be able to use a full face mask safely within the limits of your certification, training, and experience.
Before you start
- Minimum age: 15 years old
- SSI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent
- Comfortable using basic scuba equipment
- Complete the required SSI medical and administrative requirements
