The SSI Deep Diving specialty teaches you the skills and knowledge needed to safely explore deeper underwater environments. Learn how depth affects your body, equipment, gas supply, and dive planning. Build confidence and experience while learning to dive to depths beyond your basic certification limits.
What you’ll do
The SSI Deep Diving program teaches you how to safely plan and conduct deep dives. You will learn about depth-related effects, gas management, buoyancy control, and the importance of proper dive planning. Training includes practical skills for managing descents, ascents, safety stops, and potential problems at depth. You will complete supervised open water dives with an SSI Professional to apply your skills in real diving conditions. After completing the required training, you can dive to a maximum depth of 40 meters, within the limits of your certification, training, and experience.
Before you start
- Minimum age: 15 years old
- SSI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent
- Complete the required SSI medical and administrative requirements
